Plagiarism Policy
MABHA JURNAL (Economics, Tourism, and Hotelier Journal) is committed to publication ethics and academic integrity, in line with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Every manuscript must be original.
Definition
Plagiarism is the use of another person's ideas, words, data, or results without proper acknowledgment. It includes verbatim copying, paraphrasing without citation, reuse of the author's own published work without disclosure (self-plagiarism), duplicate submission, use of figures or data without permission, and fabrication or falsification of data.
Author Declaration
By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:
- The work is original and has not been published, in whole or in substantial part, elsewhere.
- The manuscript is not under review by another journal.
- All sources are properly cited, and any overlap with the authors' earlier work is disclosed.
Screening
All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate) before peer review. The journal accepts a maximum overall similarity index of 20%, excluding the reference list and properly cited quotations. The similarity score is only an indicator; editors also review the report manually to assess the nature and extent of the overlap. Plagiarism reported at any stage, including after publication, will be investigated.
Actions
- Minor overlap: the manuscript proceeds to review, and authors may be asked to correct citations.
- Moderate overlap: the manuscript is returned for revision and screened again.
- Serious plagiarism: the manuscript is rejected, the authors' institution may be informed, and the authors may be barred from submitting to the journal for a period set by the Editorial Board.
- Plagiarism found after publication: the article will be corrected or retracted in accordance with the journal's retraction policy.
Reporting
Concerns about plagiarism may be sent to the Editorial Office at ejournal@mandalabhakti.ac.id. All reports are handled in confidence.
